Well, trying to hear samples on Youtube & stuff. They’re only selling the album at Walmart and their online audio samples don’t work on my Mac…another reason to rail against that chain–they’re anti-Mac!
Journey is still a Marin band, so I can talk about them, right? The new tracks are cool. The first one, “Never Walk Away” sounds a lot like “Be Good To Yourself”. I’m going to be interested in any music created when Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain get together, but at the same time I’m just…I don’t know…bummed. I miss Steve Perry’s monster vox. And I really got into Steve Augeri’s vocal talents as well. It’s tricky accepting a lineup change in a band you love, only to have them change it again and again. I almost can’t deal with Van Halen anymore, though they’re not trying to move forward, it seems…only busting out the occasional reunion tour.
OTOH, I’ve been in bands where the chaos or a soured relationship is so bad that you could care less what the fans think at that point…it’s like staying married to keep your friends happy.
So Arnel Pineda is the new Journey vocalist and he sounds pretty cool. In the end it’s about the songs and Journey’s music has been there for me since middle school so I’ll always give them a fair listen.
